Sustainability Policy

We believe that high-assurance security shouldn’t cost the Earth. Cloudgap is committed to reducing our digital carbon footprint and operating a responsible, future-focused business.
At Cloudgap, we recognise that while digital transformation drives efficiency, the technology sector contributes significantly to global carbon emissions. We are dedicated to decoupling our business growth from our environmental impact through smart choices in infrastructure, travel, and operations.

1. Digital Carbon Footprint

As a cloud-native consultancy, our primary environmental impact comes from digital infrastructure. We are committed to minimising this through:
  • Green Hosting: We prioritise cloud providers (such as AWS and Azure) that have committed to 100% renewable energy usage for their data centres.
  • Efficient Code: In our engineering and PQC migration projects, we advocate for and implement computationally efficient algorithms that reduce energy consumption during processing.
  • Data Minimalism: We practice “data minimisation” not just for privacy (GDPR) but for sustainability, reducing the storage and energy required to maintain redundant datasets.

Responsible AI

Training and running Large Language Models (LLMs) is energy-intensive. As part of our AI Governance services, we advise clients on “Green AI” principles—optimising model size and inference costs to balance performance with environmental responsibility.

2. Remote-First Operations

Cloudgap operates on a “Remote-First” agile model. By embedding our consultants virtually rather than physically, we significantly reduce the carbon emissions associated with traditional consultancy travel.
  • Reduced Commuting: We encourage remote working for all staff, minimising daily travel emissions.
  • Virtual Governance: We utilise digital collaboration tools for our “Weekly Governance Touchpoints,” reserving physical travel only for critical workshops where in-person presence adds significant value.

3. Waste Management & Procurement

Even as a digital business, we have a physical footprint. We manage this by:
  • Paperless Office: We operate a 100% digital documentation environment. All deliverables, contracts, and reports are electronic.
  • Hardware Lifecycle: We purchase high-quality, durable hardware intended for long lifecycles and ensure responsible e-waste recycling through certified partners at the end of equipment life.
  • Sustainable Partners: We screen our suppliers and partners to ensure their environmental values align with ours.

4. Continuous Improvement

Sustainability is a journey, not a destination. We commit to reviewing this policy annually and setting measurable targets to further reduce our emissions per employee as we scale.
